Handling plasterboard before it goes
Do
- Keep it dry and flat, as wet board crumbles and gets heavy
- Stack offcuts and sheets in one place away from the rest of your rubbish
- Wear gloves and a mask when you cut or move broken board
- Photograph the pile so you can get a price
Don't
- Mix it into a skip or bags of general waste without checking the rules
- Break up old board that might contain asbestos
- Overload a car boot with full sheets

Plasterboard questions
Will the tip take my plasterboard?
Yes, up to a limit. The verdict above shows the charge, and says booking is needed. If you have more than the limit, you will need another route.
Can I take it in a van?
Only with a van permit, according to the verdict above. The [Hampshire tips page](/hampshire-tips/) covers booking, vans and what they take.
Can you take plasterboard along with other rubbish?
Yes. We do the whole job in one visit with no limit on items, so plasterboard can go with the rest of a [builders' waste](/builders-waste/) or [rubbish removal](/rubbish-removal/) job.
Does the council collect plasterboard?
Check with the council when you book. Our [Basingstoke and Deane bulky waste](/basingstoke-and-deane-bulky-waste-collection/) and [Hart bulky waste](/hart-bulky-waste-collection/) pages explain the collection routes.
